In June 2008, Entertainment Tonight visited the set of Californication, the Showtime series starring David Duchovny as Hank Moody — a self-destructive novelist trying to rebuild his life in Los Angeles. The behind-the-scenes footage and photos offered an intimate look at the making of the critically acclaimed show during its second season production.

Californication Season 2

By mid-2008, Californication was already establishing itself as one of premium cable's most talked-about comedies. David Duchovny's portrayal of Hank Moody had earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical Series in January 2008, confirming his range as an actor beyond his decade-long association with Fox Mulder.

The ET set visit captured Duchovny relaxed and clearly at home in the role, with cast members Natascha McElhone (Karen van der Beek) and Madeleine Martin (Becca Moody) also visible in the behind-the-scenes clips. The chemistry between the cast was palpable, contributing to the show's warm, authentic feel.

About the Show

Created by Tom Kapinos, Californication ran for seven seasons on Showtime from 2007 to 2014. The show explored themes of creativity, addiction, love, and redemption through the chaotic life of Hank Moody, and became one of Duchovny's signature roles alongside Fox Mulder.
